Spinal Muscular Atrophy, or commonly known as SMA is a gentic disorder that results the degrade of motor neurons of the spinal cord and the brainstrem.
There have been no cure for it yet.
The common sysmptoms muscle weakness, feeding difficulties and accumulation of secretions in the lungs or throat. Once symptoms appear, the motor neuron cells quickly deteriorate shortly and average life expectancy is often 1~3years.
SMA is the number one genetic killer for babies ages under 2years old.

A peition to congress that will allocate federal resources to non-profit and research organizations focused on finding a treatment and/or cure for SMA.
